annād bhavanti bhūtāni parjanyād anna-sambhavaḥ yajñād bhavati parjanyo yajñaḥ karma-samudbhavah

Translation: All living beings subsist on food, and food is produced by rains. Rains come from the performance of sacrifice, and sacrifice is produced by the performance of prescribed duties.

Commentary: Here, Lord Krishna is describing the cycle of nature. Rain begets grains. Grains are eaten and transformed into blood. From blood, semen is created. Semen is the seed from which the human body is created. Human beings perform yajfias, and these propitiate the celestial gods, who then cause rains, and so the cycle continues.

Annapoorna practices ZBNF principles

Zero-Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) is a holistic alternative to the present paradigm of high-cost chemical inputs-based agriculture. It is very effective in addressing the uncertainties of climate change. ZBNF principles are in harmony with the principles of Agroecology. Its uniqueness is that it is based on the latest scientific discoveries in Agriculture, and, at the same time it is rooted in Indian tradition.

Sustainable Agriculture

In simplest terms, sustainable agriculture is the production of food, fiber, or other plant or animal products using natural farming techniques which protects the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare. This form of agriculture enables us to produce healthy food without compromising future generations' ability to continue the same.

Why Sustainable Agriculture?

Ensures Better Quality and Healthier Food

Sustainable agriculture is important because it helps protect the environment, supports farmers, and ensures food security for the future. It focuses on using natural resources wisely, reducing chemical use, and maintaining soil and water health. Sustainable farming also helps fight climate change by reducing carbon emissions and promoting biodiversity. Economically, it lowers costs for farmers and meets the growing demand for organic and eco-friendly products. By adopting sustainable practices, we can produce healthy food while preserving nature for future generations.

Conserves Natural Resources & Promotes Healthier Ecosystems

The adoption of sustainable agricultural practices guarantees the optimal use of natural resources such as water, electricity, and air. Consequently, these resources will remain accessible for future generations. For instance, the implementation of advanced irrigation methods, such as sprinkler and drip irrigation, has led to a significant reduction in water consumption, achieving up to 60%.

Promotes Social & Economic Growth

Sustainable and ethical farming practices like  Contract Farming, help in improving the economic and social status of the farmers. Farmers work in humane and fair working conditions and receive a reasonable price for their produce. As a result, they significantly reduce their dependence on subsidies and concessions to lead a quality life.
